The SnowVole Bloggers Trip 2013

I was sitting in a South Wales Starbucks last March, whilst chatting with Dan Evans, long time ski industry friend and owner of SnowChateaux.co.uk -  to work out the finer details of how Snow Chateaux and SnowVole.com could support each other. One caffeine induced chin wag later and a plan was hatched! We would take 15 random board and ski bloggers down to La Plagne in December 2012 to enjoy some early snow. And the more we talked about the idea, the more we liked it, and so we did just that.

A couple of adverts on SnowVole, Facebook and LinkedIn later and we had our 15 fabulous intrepid bloggers - 3 sponsored skiers/boarders, 3 professional bloggers, a snowboard distributor, me, a web designer, a professional film maker, a Ski Show Sales Manager and 3 amateur bloggers. Together we absolutely proved that a chalet holiday can integrate diverse people exceedingly well.
Our awesome party consisted of  myself; Mark Slater; Simon Cudlip; Faye Reiad; Fiona Russell; Gordon; Richard Keen; Angus Reid; Alex Boam; Daniel Bye; Nicholas Stanford; Richard Keane; Jake Yulli-Kirkwood; Jon Moy & Bern Page.

Personally being a big fan of ski-driving (to ensure plenty of room for baggage), we had decided to make the trek to our sublime Snow Chateaux chalets using self-drive vehicles kindly supplied to us by HolidayAutos.co.uk. 11 of the group were split across 3 vehicles, and we still had plenty of room for bags, camera and filming equipment. And with comfortable transport at our fingertips we were able to demonstrate the second great reason for vehicle hire as we undertook our festival of skiing in seven magnificent resorts over six days, Val d’Isere, Les Arcs, La Plagne, Courchevel, Meribel, Val Thorens & Tignes.

On the final day, after chomping down a scrummy breakfast courtesy of Fabien and Hayley our awesome SnowChateaux chalet hosts, we headed home for Blighty, leaving our resort with  good weather and the lifts next to our chalet opening for the first time ready for the new season – bummer!! However, all was made better as we chilled out in the Club Class lounge of our return hosts P&O Ferries, and reminisced about our trip.

A massive round of applause and thanks to all our fantastic partners who supported our excellent week away.

SnowChateaux.co.uk - for the glorious food and sumptuous chalet accommodation in Les Coches. (Huge thanks to Dan Evans and all the team at SnowChateaux.co.uk for a first rate week)
P&O Ferries - who supplied our ferry crossings. (I can definitely recommend the club class lounge - fab way to start and finish your trip. with plenty of room to relax and unwind from the drive to and from the ferry port)
Holiday Autos - 3 excellent vehicles were provided to us for our drive across France. (Easy and professional service, and means you can partake in ski-driving, even if you don't want to take your own car)
Money Maxim - a LOW cost excess insurance policy covered our hire cars. (Great coverage and really simple to set up online)
Montchavin Ski Set -  for top quality hire equipment and service
The resorts of La Plagne, Les Arcs, The 3 Vallees, Val d’Isere & Tignes who ALL helped to provide us with lift passes etc to give us amazing skiing in 7 resorts in 6 days (again the beauty of ski driving and having freedom to move around).

Keep an eye on my blog for more detailed reports in the next few weeks
