First trip of the summer to Oregon for on-snow training.
As always, Reece and I joined forces with Cascade Winter Sports Club;Reece joined in with their training sessions, I helped with the coaching.
As is the case with many race teams in June, no gate training was done - the focus was on freeskiing, which included many technique drills. We also had a chance to freeski on some of the more interesting terrain on the south side of Mt Hood, traversing across to "Zig Zag Canyon" and hiking up to "Illumination Rock".
At the beginning of the week, a heavy snowstorm was in progress and the lifts did not run. The next day, we were able to ski, but in a mixture of snow, sleet and rain. After that, the weather improved dramatically and remained fine for the rest of the week.
