13/14 Ski Season kick-off in Colorado

November is a perfect time for an early-season ski trip to Colorado. There are usually several resorts operating, although most tend to just have a handful of runs open, thanks to snowmaking.

Weather-wise, anything is possible. You can get snowfall and sub-freezing temperatures, or mild, sunny days with outdoor lunches on the terrace. It is quite possible to ski in the morning, and play golf in Denver in the afternoon in a T-shirt.

This is a prime time of year for ski-racers to work on pre-season training, and there are usually many national teams and clubs in the central Colorado area, working hard on technique drills and gate training.

Reece and I skied at Keystone, Arapahoe Basin and Copper Mountain.

Reece was also able to do four days of slalom training, joining in with Team Breckenridge and Mount Shasta Ski Team (visiting from California).

We also had the opportunity to watch the official US Ski Team Naming at Copper Mountain, where Reece was lucky enough to meet one of the world's greatest skiers, Ted Ligety.

Many thanks to:

John Leffler and Chelsea Lynch with Team Breckenridge
Robert Baker with Mount Shasta Ski Team
