This week Silver Swan are looking for a Artisan Baker needed to join a fantastic team in Fernie, BC. An English run successful wholesale and retail artisan bakery located in beautiful Fernie, BC. Producing a quality, all-natural product for the local area, with a focus on Real Honest Bread.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled, hands-on baker with the ability to manage the production of our range of artisan breads and pastries. You will need to work well within a small team and ensure a high standard of product quality and consistency.

Experience of artisanal breads, including hand-moulding, sourdough, sponge-dough method etc is required, although full training in our product range will be provided.

Starting salary from $18 / hour plus benefits offered for this permanent, full-time position (working approx. 40 hours per week). Plus the amazing opportunity to work and play in the Canadian Rockies.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Baker will be responsible for participating in all phases of bread development and production during the evening shift. Candidates must have a passion for baking with a dedication to product quality and consistency. Knowledge in all aspects of bread baking, including artisanal breads, is required. Responsibilities:

* Participate in the daily production of a full line of breads, buns, rolls and other baked goods.

* Ensure high standards of product quality and consistency.

* Contribute to sound fiscal management by helping to monitor food and labor costs, helping with monthly inventory, and controlling waste.

* Maintain a clean and safe baking facility including the maintenance and cleaning of equipment.

* Promote a positive, team oriented working environment where bakery staff take pride in their work and treat each other with respect.

* Work together with our team to develop new products.

You will work evening, weekend and night shifts totaling approx. 40 hours per week. Most shifts will be under supervision of the Head Baker, but you will be required to work without supervision and lead the production when the Head Baker is absent.

Qualifications: Must have completed a college level baking program or Boulanger apprenticeship (or equivalent on-the-job training), plus a minimum of 2 years experience in a commercial bakery.

It would be a huge advantage if you have already or are in the process of securing a working holiday visa.
